About Santa Lúcia

Fazenda Santa Lúcia, located in Carmo de Minas, Brazil, is a coffee farm managed by Hélcio Carneiro Pinto since 1976. The farm spans 740 hectares, primarily cultivating bananas, corn, and cattle, with a portion dedicated to coffee varieties such as Mundo Novo, Yellow Catuaí, Acaiá, and Yellow Bourbon. Situated at elevations between 900 and 1,250 meters, the farm benefits from ideal conditions for the slow maturation of coffee cherries.

Santa Lúcia employs the "safra zero" or "zero harvest" pruning method, alternating the pruning of coffee plants each year to enhance yield and quality. This technique allows the productive half of the farm to yield 80–90 bags per hectare, approximately three times more than without pruning.

This Yellow Bourbon beans, processed naturally and dried before being transported to CarmoCoffees' facility in Três Corações for dry milling. The resulting coffee offers a sweet, comforting cup with lower acidity and a heavier body, featuring tasting notes of cocoa, hazelnut, brown sugar, apricot, date, milk chocolate, and peanut butter.

Project Origin collaborates with CarmoCoffees for sourcing and supports CriaCarmo, a project providing educational and recreational activities for youth in Carmo de Minas, including swimming, dance, karate, chess, soccer, and English lessons.
