The name refers to its grain size classification. While the Maracaturra variety typically produces large beans (above screen size 16), this lot is called “Junior” due to its smaller screen size. About Buenos Aires

Nestled in the highlands of Dipilto, Nueva Segovia, Finca Buenos Aires is part of a legacy spanning over 60 years. What began as a single inherited lot by Don Luis Emilio Valladarez in 1957 has evolved into a renowned ten-farm operation known for producing some of Nicaragua’s finest specialty coffees.

Buenos Aires is both the name of the farm and the mill, a central hub for the Valladarez family’s entire coffee operation. The farm’s sandy soil, high elevation, and unique microclimate create ideal growing conditions for exceptional varieties like Maracaturra—a rare hybrid prized for its vibrant cup profile and large bean size.

Coffee farmer

Today, Don Luis Emilio and his son Olman lead the family’s commitment to quality and innovation. Olman, a former lawyer turned coffee expert, introduced new processing techniques and varietal selections that helped their coffees place consistently in the Cup of Excellence, including a 1st Place win in 2015. The Valladarez family is now considered the largest producer of Maracaturra in the world.
