About Puntang Sultani Estate

Nestled on the slopes of Mount Puntang, Sultani Estate is known for producing exceptional coffees using a variety of post-harvest techniques. The estate is led by Kang Irwan, a passionate producer who, along with his dedicated team, plays a vital role in shaping Puntang’s specialty coffee scene.

Irwan was instrumental in founding the Puntang Coffee Farmers Group and the Puntang Mulya Mandiri Cooperative, aiming to ensure local farmers benefit from the region’s growing recognition and success in specialty coffee.

His mission extends beyond economics, he also advocates for environmental stewardship, encouraging sustainable farming practices that protect Mount Puntang’s delicate ecosystem from overexploitation.

Coffee farmer

Driven by a pursuit of quality, Kang Irwan established Sultani Estate to focus on micro-lot production, allowing greater attention to detail and cup quality. The estate cultivates Typica, Lini-S, and Bourbon, varieties known for lower yields but superior flavor profiles compared to higher-yielding types like Ateng or Sigararutang.

Sultani Estate also stands out for its ongoing experimentation with fermentation methods, microbial starters, and slow drying techniques, all designed to push the boundaries of flavor and quality in every cup.
